the more, the many-er?!
i changed my blog address for two reasons:
- tuloypokayo sounds very welcoming.. not that people are not welcome to see my page but, you know, it was TOO welcoming.. you know what i mean..
- my ever growing fascination with idioms convinced me to do so..
i've been thinking about doing this since last weekend, so it was no "spur of the moment" thing..
why the name?
actually, this wasn't my top choice.. i really wanted it to be catch22, but it was taken already.. (really annoying since that page wasn't maintained, i wish that address would just be mine instead..) my next choice was elephantintheroom.. other names were offtheradar, slowasmolasses, overthemoon, and souptonuts, you know what the results turned out to be..
so, what do they mean?
- to keep a stiff upper lip is to exercise self-restraint in the expression of emotion..
- catch22 takes the same meaning as "a no win situation" (have always loved this one)
- there is an elephant in the room when a problem is obvious to all but spoken by none..
- something off the radar is something not popular..
- to work as slow as molasses is to work in a very slow manner..
- being over the moon is being very happy..
- from soup to nuts means from beginning to end..
